If you think Uncle Sam is going to be there
when you get old, think
again. There are so many baby boomers getting ready to retire,
entitlement
programs can't possibly keep up. The best way to deal with this problem
is to take personal responsibility for your own health.
First and foremost, pay attention to what
you eat.
Major food companies really don't care about your long term health.
They
care about their short term profits. Basically all the food in the
middle of the common grocery store, is over- processed. Along
the sides of the store, you get the meats, fruits, dairy and
vegetables. This is where the good stuff is.
But, even the good stuff in these stores
don't
supply the nutrients we all need, and that's where natural alternative
supplements come into play. Fish oil, kombucha are my favorite food
supplements. If you listen to your body it will tell you what it needs
or better yet, what it doesn't need.
For example:
Let's take a look at restless leg
syndrome. Up until recently that term didn't exist. It was actually a
term made up by the pharmaceutical companies, who in turn came up
with
a pill. You have a choice: To take the pill for a quick fix with the
possiblity of serious side effects, for a lot of money, or help your
body fix
itself
naturaly with few instances of side effects. In the case of
restless leg syndrome the cause is diet
related. Lack of exercise will bring it on as well. I know this
is true for me. I had restless leg syndrome and I feel it was my
body telling me, cool it with the ice cream... Ask yourself questions:
Why do I need shaving
cream? Plain old Ivory
soap works perfectly. The skin on my face really likes it. Vinegar
is an amazing anti fungal remedy(athletes
foot), why pay extra? Oil of oregano is a great pain killer(tooth ache)
and
antiseptic. For every common mainstream health product, there's a good
chance there's an equally good, if not better and a lot cheaper,
alternative health
therapy. Use your doctors for your checkups and serious immediate
issues, use
alternative medicine as your personal long term preventive health plan.
The more informed
you are the better you'll be able to not only make the right health
decisions, but also the most practical. It's up to you to
get it right. Prevent illness, naturally.
